Cloth Diapers - The healthy choice for newborns and their environment - By: Rob Parker
You have to think that life must be pretty difficult as a newborn. After all, so far you’ve spent your whole time in a warm and wet environment; basically bumping around naked, not really worried about anything. Then all of a sudden you are thrust out into this cold, bright place, your means of nourishment is cut off, and you have to learn to breath in a whole new way in a matter of seconds, and then they wrap you in plastic!
While some people may have the time to set a schedule for their newborns so that they can get them cleaned every time the baby produces waste, for many this simply isn’t feasible. A new generation that rejects unnatural products both for the environment and for their children are choosing to use cloth diapers instead of disposables for catching the bodily waste that newborns produce. Let’s take a look at the benefits in health and in terms of our eco footprint, that choosing cloth diapers for your newborn can mean.
Less diaper rash. Cloth diapers simply can’t hold the same amount of waste, either solid or liquid, that a disposable diaper can. While at first blush this may seem convenient, the fact is that the healthy choices for our children are never convenient. The amount of waste that can build up in a disposable diaper can cause newborns, infants and toddlers significant pain and discomfort in the form of a rash. Using a cloth diaper mitigates this occurrence.
Renewable. The biggest benefit as far as the environment with cloth diapers as that by being washable, they are far less likely to be thrown out than disposables. Most disposable diapers contain quite a lot of plastic and other materials which will not break down for hundreds of years; a quick look at just how many disposables the average newborn goes through in a day is enough to make anyone’s spine creep when the eco impact is considered. The fact that you can use cloth diapers again and again, also means there is less impact on your bank account!
Less chance of an allergic reaction. As allergies are becoming more and more severe, many new mothers are finding that the synthetic materials used in disposable diapers cause their newborns to have a reaction. Not a very great way to start out life! Choosing cloth diapers made of non-allergenic material will greatly reduce the chance of a reaction from your baby.
As with so many are finding today, the old ways of doing things are proving to be the smartest for a new generation. Cloth diapers are a flash from the past, but perhaps they are a part of taking care of a newborn that should never have been left behind.

Aaron Solowoniuk - Living with MS
Aaron Solowoniuk - Living with MS - By: Rob Parker
If you are a Canadian radio listener under the age of 30, the odds are pretty good that you have heard of the band Billy Talent (we are not saying that people over 30 haven`t heard of the band, just that you are less likely to, and more power to you if you are a fan!). Billy Talent has been together for over 15 years, forming when they attended high school together in Ontario.
The band first broke onto the Canadian scene in 2002, when their first album (re-titled Hard Core Logo) rocketed up the charts on the strength of several power singles, including their big hit, Try Honesty. This album went platinum three times in the country, and the band would pick up two Junos and multiple awards from Much Music as well.
Included in Hard Core Logo was a song entitled ‘This is How it Goes`. The song was penned by lead singer Benjamin Kowalewicz, who acknowledged that it was about a friend of his who had been diagnosed with and was suffering from the recurring symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Two years ago, on March 17 2006, Billy Talent drummer Aaron Solowoniuk revealed to the public, and in particular fans of the band, that the song was in fact about him.
In 1999, Solowoniuk was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which was before the band hit the mainstream. In many ways, his journey in dealing with the disease is demonstrative of how many people feel about their own diagnosis; the disease itself entails symptoms such as numbness and paralysis and loss of vision which directly affect his career path, but even more so is the reality of coming to terms with MS in one`s own life.
These issues are common reactions when one is diagnosed, and Solowoniuk made the decision to inform his fans and the public in general about his fight with MS after learning more about the disease. In a letter which the band posted on their website, Solowoniuk discusses his diagnosis, MS in general, and the processes through which he has been able to reduce his symptoms and carry on with his life.
In many ways, Aaron Solowoniuk is an encouragement to other people, young and old, who have to deal with multiple sclerosis on a day-to-day basis. He undergoes regular self-injections in order to mitigate and control his symptoms, and as a public figure he has been instrumental in supporting many different MS fundraising and awareness drives. His courage and ability to talk about the disease cannot help but be a source of comfort and identification for his fans in particular, and the public in general.

Degenerative Disease
Degenerative Disease - How much can your doctor do for you? - By: Jane Hoffmann
If you are suffering from Alzheimers Disease, Parkinson's, Motor Neuron Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, RSI or Lupus, then I've got some news for you.
Do you know anyone who has Allergic Reactions, Asthma, Depressions, Muscle Disease, Diabetes Liver disease or Spinal Cord Injuries?
Then listen up!
Have you ever heard your doctor say: "We've done all we can do... we could try increasing your intake of medicine and see what that would do, but basically that is all".
Do you have the feeling that you have been put in God's waiting room?
Well, there is now hope for sufferers of these disorders and diseases. It's called: Adult stem cell therapy. Adult stem cells are your OWN. Embryonic stem cells are somebody else's so cause more risk of being rejected.
Science teaches us: The more stem cells are circulating in your blood stream, the greater the chance for a healthy body.
Stem cells are your body's repair kit. Your body is constantly repairing itself, but when you are suffering from a degenerative disease, stem cells are not produced anymore in the numbers they should be. So, a catch 22 is taking place... less stem cells means less repair and less repair means becoming sicker.
If you want to be healthy, you need an optimal functioning immune system. If your immune system is damaged, your body cannot defend itself against diseases and you are more vulnerable to becoming sick.
Stem cells LOVE repairing immune systems. When they are released from the bone marrow into the blood stream, the first thing they do is check the immune system and make sure that it is working properly.
When they have checked the immune system and brought it to a healthy stage, they start looking for other damaged tissue or organs and begin repairing them.
Adult stem cells can transform themselves into virtually any cell in the body. If they find damaged heart cells, the replace them with healthy heart cells. If they find damaged liver cells, they replace them with healthy liver cells. Etc. etc.
So if you have a constant stream of fresh stem cells circulating in your body you may become healthy again. This theory is backed up by science.
But what if your body doesn't produce enough stem cells? Wouldn't it be logical to help it a little to get it up to scratch?
Recent studies have shown that the consumption of a product called Colostrum can assist in the production of adult stem cells. Colostrum has been used by sporting people to produce extra energy and by body builders to produce more muscle for ages already but scientists now have discovered that it also assists with the production of adult s t e m cells.
There are now reports of Arthritis sufferers getting permanent pain relief. Parkinson's sufferers see their symptoms reduced by up to 90% and even MS sufferers have improved so much that they could walk again after having been wheelchair bound for years.
So if you have Scleroderma, Shingles, Stress or Stroke. If you are suffering (or know anybody who is) from High Blood Pressure, HIV/AIDS, Cystic Fibrosis or Fibromyalgia, then I urge you to start surfing the internet in order to find more information about, what in my opinion is the greatest medical discovery ever: adult stem cell therapy.
There are websites with lots of free information. In fact, adult stem cell therapy has proven to be beneficial to sufferers of over 100 diseases. You may well find that there is hope for you too!

Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular dystrophy Causes and Symptoms and Treatments for Muscular Dystrophy - By: Dr.Steve Buchar
Muscular dystrophy refers to a group of genetic, hereditary muscle diseases that cause progressive muscle weakness. Muscular dystrophy are characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue. Nine diseases including Duchenne, Becker, limb girdle, congenital, facio scapulohumeral, myotonic, oculopharyngeal, distal, and Emery-Dreifuss are always classified as Muscular dystrophy.
Read more on Yoga for Muscular Dystrophy and Natural Cure for Multiple sclerosis and Migraine Treatment
Principal symptoms include:
1. Progressive Muscular weakness
2. Poor Balance
3. Frequent Falls
4. Walking Difficulty
5. Waddling Gait
6. Calf Pain
7. Limited Range of Movement
8. Muscle Contractual
9. Respiratory Difficulty
10. Drooping Eyelids
11. Gonadal
12. Scoliosis (curvature of the spine)
13. Inability to walk
What are the Treatments for Muscular Dystrophy?
There is no cure for any form of muscular dystrophy (MD) but medications and therapy can slow the course of the disease. Human trials of gene therapy with the dystrophin gene are on the near horizon. For instance, scientists are researching ways to insert a working dystrophin gene into the muscles of boys with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies.
Researchers are investigating the potential of certain muscle-building medicines to slow down or reverse the progression of muscular dystrophy. Other trials are looking into the effects of the dietary supplements creatine and glutamine on muscle energy production and storage.
Natural Treatment of Muscular dystrophy
As DMD affects nearly all the muscles of the body, a number of challenges have to be faced by those involved in the treatment process. A multi-disciplinary approach is needed for effective management of the disabling disease.
Various forms of treatment involving light weight braces and splints, physiotherapy, pulmonary therapy (breathing support) and surgery
can be instituted.
The choice of a particular treatment largely depends on the clinical condition of the patient and the doctor's
discretion.
Following identification of the DMD gene, researchers have developed animal models that mimic the disease. Such clinical experiments have now enhanced our pre-existing knowledge regarding the disease.
Active research is also being conducted to examine if injection of normal muscle cells (from healthy patients) or introduction of corrected form of the dystrophin gene into muscle cells (gene therapy) would reverse the disease process.
With such hope-giving treatment modalities on the horizon, a treatment for DMD is not so far.

ILLUMINATE YOUR WORLD WITH NATURAL CANDLES!!
ILLUMINATE YOUR WORLD WITH NATURAL CANDLES!! - By: Emiley David
A candle is solid block of fuel more commonly wax and an embedded wick which is lit to provide light. Candles were created in beginning to control the element of fire and to provide light so that people can see clearly at the night. Mostly candles are made from paraffin but they are also made from beeswax, soy and other plant waxes and tallow. Paraffin and plastic combined to form gel candles. Adding fragrances to candles are used in aromatherapy.
Candles and oil lamps were used before the advent of electricity were used for illumination. Today, candles are used mainly for their aesthetic value and religious ceremonies of many faiths and to particularly set a soft, warm, or romantic ambiance. Scented candles are mainly used in aromatherapy
Ordinary candles are those that have black smoke coming out of it. They are also the ones which leave black soot behind and these ordinary candles are those that are made from paraffin wax. On the other hand, there is another type of candle which burns clean and these candles are referred as natural candles. Natural candles are those which are made using natural wax and other natural ingredients like soy, beeswax, palmwax and jarwax. Sure these candles also have smoke and leave behind soot but their remains are clean and white in color. Natural candles are healthy unlike the ordinary paraffin wax candles which consist of toxins that harm the body.
Among all the natural candles bees wax candle have gain its own popularity. Beeswax is a natural wax which was produced in the bee hive of the honey bees. It is a tough wax made up of several compounds.
Bees wax candle consist of all natural substance made by bees in contrast to paraffin which is a chemical byproduct of the oil industry. The candles made from beeswax burn with the spectrum of the sun emitting a brighter, longer burning flame. It is a well established fact that beeswax candles on burning naturally emit negative ions which clean the air and invigorate the body. Beeswax gets its color and aroma from the honey and pollen packed into each honeycomb cell so the color variation of beeswax candles depends highly on the floral source used for pollination. 100% beeswax is never chemically treated or bleached. Beeswax candles are environment friendly gives a sweet smell and gives a long and bright burning.
Beeswax is used from ages as it has many beneficial and medicinal characteristics. It is used as a skin softener; it is a remedy for dysentery. Although the beeswax candle burns brighter, longer and cleaner than any other candle but what makes it so outstanding? It is the technical facts about beeswax like:
• Its stable chemical formula – C15H31CO2C30H61
• It is insoluble in water -density is 0.95
• Becomes brittle below - 18 C
• Becomes soft and pliable above 35 C to 45 C
• Melting point 65 C (generally wax melts at 149 C)
• Does not deteriorate over time.

Reflexology for a Better Outlook in Life
Reflexology for a Better Outlook in Life - By: Linda Rose
Reflexology is an alternative way of promoting healing that utilizes the application of pressure on strategic areas of the body. These specific areas contain the “reflex area” that, when applied with pressure, stimulates certain vital organ in the body. Hence, reflexology helps promoting the health of the individual. Moreover, it creates a soothing and relaxing effect that any client can really enjoy.
Reflexology has been widely used by many practitioners as they rely on a one good scientific reason that makes reflexology an authentic way of providing relaxation and enhancing the health of an individual. Through application of pressure on those selected areas, the nerve endings found on those areas fire up signals that stimulates the release of neurotransmitters such as endorphins, which is a shortened term of endogenous morphine, to balance the nervous system and to ease out the pain and stress.
However, an individual cannot just apply pressure on random areas of the body. There are specific areas that need stimulation to treat specific problems and it requires mastery. It is in this aspect that Foot-and-Hand-Reflexology.com can help clients. They offer interested clients with a comprehensive guide for the proper use of reflexology in a DVD. There are two copies of the DVD that provides clients with the practical use of this alternative technique. Since this approach focuses on the hands and feet to provide the desired effect, they offer clients with two copies of the DVD: one is focused on the Hand and the other is focuses on the feet.
With these DVD copies, clients will be shown how to do reflexology to achieving the desired effect. Clients will be taught what specific areas of the hands and feet should the client be focusing the applied pressure. This way the client will be able to experience the benefits that reflexology has to offer. The benefits will be wonderful for a client who used the technique properly. Depending on the area being pressed on, clients will experience from relief of headaches, improvement of circulation, enhanced immune system response, and elevated sense of energy to much deeper illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis –a type of paralytic disorder.
These benefits may come in as a surprise to some. However, these effects have already been proven by research and case studies all over the world. With this in mind, it would be wise to experience reflexology. Furthermore, it would be much better to learn to use reflexology to avoid spending money and energy looking for someone who knows how to do it. The DVD that the website is offering gives the clients the opportunity to do just that in a relatively low price. For the moment, they are offering these DVDs for only £47 plus a 100% money back guarantee risk free 30 day trial if the client did not have his/her desired effect – an offer that is totally outweighed by the number of benefits a client can achieve through reflexology.
Once again, reflexology, when properly used, will have an amazing effect to the totality of the person that will surely boost not just his/her body’s state of wellness but also the stability of his mind and his/her outlook in life.

College Education
Free Grants for College Education - By: jameschase
are presented to students who have filed for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). State governments also give out grants separately to needy students in addition to the ones offered by the national government. Students from abroad can avail several other funds. Apart from the government, private establishments, colleges and universities also hand out free money for school.
Grants for college education are a great way to fund the growing costs of higher education. With constantly increasing college fees, a quality college education appears inaccessible to the common people. Paying $ 20,000 each annually for four years as college fees in a private college can be afforded only by the rich. Majority of the students require at least a little financial assistance to pay their college fees.
Student loans have to be repaid, but grants for college education are donations that are not needed to be repaid. Both scholarships and grants are free aids, but while scholarships are presented to meritorious students, grants are mainly given to needy students. A grant is given only after inspecting the student’s background particulars, place of origin, financial condition, chosen subject, academic records and areas of interests. Different institutions, like the national and provincial governments and corporate organizations and business firms, pass out grants for higher education. Financial help in some form or the other is offered to needy students to present them an opportunity to study in the best colleges.
Every Year, the national government releases billions of dollars in loans and grants for college students. Cheques for the free money for schooling are not sent straight to the student’s home. The money presented as grants is sent directly to the student’s college to forbid fraud.
Post graduate and undergraduate students from lower income groups can only avail the Federal Pell Grant. The amount distributed as grants for college students changes each year with modifications in the budget and policies of the national government. Financial aid is given out taking into consideration the expected family contribution (EFC) and also the total study expenses of the student.
Financial help is presented by the FSEOG to students with the highest need only. The FSEOG program helps students from very weak economic background with a minimum EFC.
Undergraduate freshmen and sophomores from financially weaker backgrounds but with excellent academic records are eligible for the AC grant, as long as they are eligible for the Pell grant.

Lyme disease
Why is my doctor clueless about my Lyme disease? - By: Maggie Mathews
You may have been visiting your doctor for years complaining about a myriad of symptoms. People may think that you are a hypochondriac. Yet you knew something was wrong. And one day finally you are told a diagnosis that you have a disease called Lyme disease. How is it that the medical community was clueless? After all this is the 21’st century with advanced medicine and all the tests in the world. Why you wonder was your Lyme disease caught before.
The answers are myriad. First Lyme disease is frequently misdiagnosed. Physicians overlook cases of Lyme disease simply because they do not know the complex nature of the origin and development of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease can cause over 100 different symptoms and the one commonly known symptom of Lyme Disease – that is joint pain is only one of the many presentations of Lyme Disease.
Secondly the tests for Lyme Disease are frequently useless and frequently misleading. The bacteria which causes Lyme disease can only infrequently be grown in bacterial plates. There is no one test to medical test diagnose Lyme Disease. Hence your doctor has to be on the ball to catch your symptoms. And even then he may not put together your odd symptoms as Lyme Disease if you unlucky enough to have Lyme Disease symptoms that “are not in the book”.
Not only is that Lyme Disease not caused by the one known bacteria. It is now estimated that 300 different strains of bacterial worldwide cause Lyme Disease. Further it is not only the deer tick that spreads Lyme Disease. Other ticks such as Lone Star Ticks, western black legged and wood ticks can spread Lyme Disease as well. And if that is not enough global warming is spreading the geographic range of some of these insects to previously unknown areas.
You are not alone in being left out in the cold. It turns out that Lyme Disease is much more common than previously estimated – up to 10 to 15 times higher than the previous underrated estimates. As you well have figures out by now doctors often miss most cases if Lyme Disease. The reasons are not hard to figure out. Further because of the apparent low rates of this disease it is not considered of any major public health concern so that there is no mandatory reporting procedure as one might find with venereal diseases. You have been caught in a terrible vicious cycle. Low diagnosis rates since doctors do not know what to look for and tests are not accurate in any manner. Then because the true prevalence of the incidence of Lyme Disease is vastly underreported Lyme disease is seen as a minor disease that is well taken care of. Hence there is little need for education on how to catch the symptoms of Lyme Disease .The circle goes on and on.
Amazingly even if you are one of the lucky few and have your Lyme Disease correctly diagnosed you may not be home free. You may be under treated with antibiotic therapy. The stated course of action is a 6 week schedule of antibiotic therapy. Yet it often takes months, years and perhaps for ever of antibiotic therapy to manage this lingering disease with its hardy bacterial threat.
It has been said that just because you are paranoid does not mean that people are not out to get you. You were not imagining that your Lyme Disease took a very long time to diagnose. And the reasons are real not imagined.

Medical Mystery
Morgellons: Disease Am I Crazy Or What? - By: Maggie Mathews
Envision a nightmare of horror, conspiracy, medical mystery, human suffering and yet being called crazy by your doctor or others. Imagine you might have Morgellons Disease.
People who suffer from Morgellons Disease will tell you it is as if “am insect is crawling under their skin”. They may have a number of symptoms but in most cases it boils down to unexplained skin rashes and eczemas and the appearance of fibers and granules coming out of their skin. Some have said that they have seen insects or some type of parasite emerging to fly away from under their skin. Often sufferers have had bouts of Lyme disease as well. Lyme disease is the most common tick borne disease in the United States whose incidence and reported incidence is rising alarmingly. Like Morgellons Disease, Lyme disease was a poorly known or diagnosed disease. Suffers were often labeled by their doctors as suffering of imaginary diseases – they were at the least hypochondriacs and perhaps psychotic. Like Morgellons disease Lyme disease affects suffers with a myriad of symptoms – many of them similar to Morgellons including rashes, eczemas and neurological conditions. Unlike Morgellons disease Lyme disease is now recognized as a valid disease that can be identified through medical diagnostic skills and lab tests. It is now known and appreciated that early treatment of Lyme disease with antibiotics can result in an excellent treatment and prevention of many of the symptoms and complications resulting from untreated Lyme disease . Further it is now appreciated with Lyme Disease delayed or inadequate treatment may result in a condition for the poor patient which is both very disabling and may very difficult to treat. The same approach and understanding can not be said for Morgellons Disease sufferers.
The actual pathogen that is causing Morgellons disease is at the present unknown. It may be an old infection that has been around for eons. It may be a new type of infection that has come into play through evolution, international travel, the destruction of the Amazon and African rain forests or even outer space. It may be a new type of infection - a parasite, a worm, bacteria, a virus, a preon or something not even known yet. Nobody knows. Perhaps it is even transmitted in a latent fashion similar to mad cow disease.
The symptoms of patients presenting with Morgellons are varied and unfortunately for the sufferer may match several other medical conditions most of which are widely known and that medical students and physicians are taught to quickly recognize and treat.
A well known axiom of medical training is “to always go for the most common disease “when diagnosing and treating.”. Unfortunately the sufferer of Morgellons may be incorrectly diagnosed for years and years as time goes on and the disease progresses. They may be told that they have “scabies which is also a mite or small insect manifestation. They may be told that they have nothing more than standard run of the mill lice which is also an infestation of parasitic insects. They may be told that they have “Impetigo” which is a skin rash caused by bacteria The eczema may be diagnosed as simple run of the mill eczema which “happens all the time” and may be the result of simple allergies at different times of the year or as a result of changes of detergents to wash their clothes or foods that they have eaten.. They may even be told that their skin rash is a result of “bad nerves” and be given tranquillizers to quell their anxieties. Perhaps they are told that they have “ Neurodermatitis “ and that as a result of their allergies or nerves they have made their lesion worse by constant scratching of the sores. If they live in a hotter humid climate such as Florida they may be told that that they have a very hardy resistant fungal infection of their skin, nail or nail beds called Tinea. Their skin infection may have been explained by common terms that really are descriptive of the condition without identifying any real cause or treatment. These descriptive disease names commonly described include “Folliculitis : which is an infection of the hair follicles or roots , “Cellulitis” or skin infection or “Seborrhea : which is a condition of skin rash due to overactive sebaceous glands such as is seen in teenagers with acne.
At the worst the Morgellons disease sufferer will be blamed themselves for their condition either for compulsive skin picking , drug side effects , drug addiction or at the very end of the scale as having “ Delusional parasistosis “ that is tactile hallucinations of insects , snakes or other vermin crawling over their skin. Lots of luck.
Patients who claim to have Morgellons Disease describe the polysymptomatic syndrome as primarily characterized by skin lesions and the appearance of fibers and granules coming out of the skin.
And yet whether real or delusional the symptoms reported by those they have Morgellons seem real enough and even horrific to those who are convinced that they are suffering. It is as if there is a sensation of bugs or worms crawling and biting under their skin. Often these people claim that they see the organisms actually crawling out and emerging from their skin along with odd fibers or filaments. What a nightmare of human suffering.

Causes of Multiple Sclerosis
Minocycline May Offer New Hope - By: Rob Parker
People who suffer from multiple sclerosis have a few different options when it comes to treatments and medications which can decrease the severity of symptoms and even lengthen the time between symptomatic outbreaks. Some treatments may even assist in eliminating certain symptoms of the condition altogether.
Those who research treatments for multiple sclerosis symptoms have recently begun to test the effects of the drug minocycline on people suffering from the condition. In this article we will take a look at what minocycline is and what hope it has to offer people suffering with multiple sclerosis.
Minocycline hydrochloride
As you might have already guessed, the sub title above indicates the full name of the minocycline treatment. This medicine is classified as an antibiotic, which means that its primary use is in fighting off different kinds of bacteria and bacterial infection. Minocycline is thought to be more effective than other antibiotics in the tetracycline family, largely due to the fact that the half life of the medicine is much longer than others. Thus, it can create serum levels within the body which can be up to four times greater than other similar antibiotics.
The use of minocycline
Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, minocycline has traditionally been used to treat conditions which involve bacterial swelling, including minor conditions such as acne right up to serious plagues such as anthrax and cholera.
It is these same anti-inflammatory properties which have given rise to new hopes for the application of the antibiotic for researchers interested in treating symptoms of multiple sclerosis. As with many neurological diseases, it is swelling in areas of the brain that triggers episodes of MS symptom attack. The reaction of the antibiotic essentially stops certain types of cell death which would otherwise cause cell death and thus more severe symptoms.
Possible side effects
Minocycline is still in its infancy as far as a treatment for multiple sclerosis, but there is definitely reason to believe in its success. In fact, researchers believe that the drug may be useful in combating several other neurological diseases as well, including Parkinson’s disease and even Alzheimer’s.
As with any treatment, there are risks associated with the use of minocycline. Flu like symptoms including vomiting and headaches may arise. In addition, there is a low risk in some patients that minocycline may trigger an allergic reaction, and using any tetracycline past its due date will have toxic effects on the body.

5 Facts About Multiple Sclerosis No One Else Will Tell You About. - By: loden
Multiple sclerosis (MS, disseminated sclerosis or encephalomyelitis disseminata).
1) The cause of Multiple Sclerosis is unknown. Multiple Sclerosis scientists still do not know what causes Multiple Sclerosis but research is focused on investigating immune system and genetic causes. Scientific research has uncovered a number of candidates: Trauma, Environment,Genes, Immune System and Viruses. Some say that Multiple Sclerosis is caused when the immune system somehow perceives myelin as an intruder into the system and attacks MS. Myelin is a fatty material around nerves that acts like the insulation around electrical wires.
2) Multiple sclerosis affects appr one third of a million Americans and every week some 200 people are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. That is more than one person an hour. Across the world, more than 2.5 million people have the disease. Multiple sclerosis affects not just the person with MS but also family and friends. Did you also know that women are affected more than men are? The disorder most commonly begins between ages 20 and 40, but can strike at any age. Multiple sclerosis is not contagious.
3) Limited research reports a possible relationship between caffeine use and multiple sclerosis, although evidence is not definitive in this area.
4) People with multiple sclerosis (MS) are at an increased risk for osteoporosis. This increased risk is not a direct result of the MS disease process, but as a secondary factor of some of the treatments used in MS, and a reduction in physical activity in people with MS due to disability.
5) While there's no cure today for multiple sclerosis yet, significant advances have been made over the past decade to understand the disease better and develop more effective multiple sclerosis treatments. Today, people with multiple sclerosis have choices including the options of injectable and infusion therapy. With the right support, information and treatment, you can manage your MS successfully. The most common therapy for an attack, also called an exacerbation, is the use of steroids. Steroids reduce the swelling and permit more rapid healing. Talk to your doctor to learn more about multiple sclerosis treatments that may be right for you.
Remember, The best possible defense against all diseases is the intake of a rich balanced diet that strengthens the immunity system.

The Different Faces Of Multiple Sclerosis - By: barak
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease wherein through a mechanism that is yet to be understood, the immune system attacks the myelin sheath of the neurons. This sheath is the protective insulator of the neurons that allows for easy transfer of nerve impulses from one brain cell to another.
There are several forms of multiple sclerosis and for the most parts, the diverse kinds of MS are categorized under four types. They are as follows:
RRMS or Relapsing/Remitting Multiple Sclerosis
As its name suggests, this type is characterized by intermittent relapses (or exacerbation, or attacks of symptoms). During such relapses, new symptoms may begin while old symptoms subside or get worse. Since MS differs from one case to another, it is difficult to distinguish which symptom will occur on a particular relapse and what new symptoms are to be expected. There really is no way of telling.
After the relapse, remission will follow. Remission is when the patient will undergo partial or complete recovery from the effects of the exacerbations.
The process of relapse might last anywhere from one day, two days, a week, a month, a year and so on. And the recovery period may occur straight away or gradually. Most people who have this autoimmune disease first undergo RRMS which oftentimes hits at their early adulthood, though it is not rare to find cases when onset happens during middle age.
SPMS or Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis
After the onset of the disease, patients may either feel no more symptoms or their symptoms will progressively worsen in between relapses. In this type, the patient may experience a mixture of good and bad days. Some patients who are still in the first phase of SPMS may still experience distinguishable relapses but as the disease worsens, remission lessens while the symptoms aggravate. At this point, no recovery may be expected. SPMS typically happens after a decade or so of having the condition.
PRMS or Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis
This type is still characterized by relapse and remission. However, with each relapse, the condition and symptoms worsen. It gradually follows a debilitating course.
PPMS or Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis
This can be considered as the basic type of multiple sclerosis, which follows the similar evolution of other chronic diseases. The onset of symptoms leads on to continuous worsening of each attack. The sad part is, there are no remissions in this type. Instead, there may be periods when the severity of symptoms level off. Like with SPMS, this type is marked with good and bad days but the good days are just a little less inconvenient. This type differs from most types as it tends to affect people whose ages are anywhere from 30 to 50 years old and it is most typically seen among men, unlike secondary progressive and relapse/remitting types.
There are other forms of multiple sclerosis, some of them are sub-types of the more frequent ones while some of them are completely different from those already mentioned. Benign MS, for example, is a sub-type of RRMS where the onset is not marked by successive relapses and remissions. Instead, the patient may experience no symptom for as long as 15 years. Malignant MS, on the other hand, is a type where the period from onset to advanced severity happens in a very short period of time. Fortunately, this is a very rare type. Each type of MS requires different forms of treatments, therapies and handling. It is therefore very important to first know what the type is.

Cured Multiple Sclerosis! Now What Are You Going To Do? - By: Craig Jacobson
The doctor stood over her power wheelchair waiting for an answer. She turned her chair to face the physician looked up with determination and said, "Tell the world the truth!"
How did this survivor of 25 years of primary progressive-downhill, multiple sclerosis relieve her lack of mobility, spasms, ataxia and memory shutdown? She went from completely immobile and highly impaired brain function to freedom of movement, is currently learning to walk again, and has returned to college and easily managing to ace her computer and writing classes. She just finished another section of her autobiography with the submission of 45 pages to her college instructor.
Miracle? No! It was a process invented by her ex-husband that combined the use of personal, soft-tissue lasers and their combined nutritional experience (50 years), that delivered her healing. They found a way to stop the disease's progression that is simple, reproducible and universally applicable to most degenerative disease.
This is their truth but it originally came from research performed back in the early 20th century. According to Dr. Meinig's book "Root Canal Cover-up", there are infections in the mouth, gums, jaw and teeth called focal infections. Such infections grow after filling materials used in restorative dentistry and shrinks. Shrinkage leaves a small pocket where almost imperceptibly small remnants of bacteria can grow and create virulent pockets of focal infection. What is even more amazing is that these bacterial strains can literally metastasize as identical strains elsewhere in the body tissues which are weakened. These infections are literally broadcast from the head, mouth and throat to joints, connective tissue and even organs weakened by stress of the focal infections.
So how can a lay-person intervene with these deeply imbedded focal infections?
1. Slow the infection with laser light simultaneously applied at the source of a focal infection and the primary, peripheral symptom sites where pain, inflammation and stiffness are present. The personal, low-powered lasers are available in penlight laser pointers available over the Internet or at your local business supply store.
2. Feed the tissue with high-energy nutraceutical supplementation. These steps help the cells remove the toxic waste products from the recovering tissue along with massage, acupuncture and moderate exercise. We found that using the phyto-nutrients (plant-sugar concentrates) were incredibly helpful in boosting cellular health making the membrane walls permeable again.
3. We dissolved the calcium cocoon around her muscles, organs and connective tissue with healthy drinks to balance the pH such as chlorophyll, diluted raw apple-cider vinegar or aloe vera.
4. To reinstitute proper calcium management by the parathyroid, an imbalance which had caused the calcium cocoon limiting her mobility, we concentrated on balancing the thyroid-parathyroid and adrenal glands so they sustained each other's optimum operations.
5. Finally and most important, the recovery required lots of purified water to carry out the waste products from the breakdown of the calcium's cocoon sheath.
6. Early as possible get the recovering person into physical rehabilitation to keep rebuilding strength, endurance and dexterity. Continue laser scanning during physical rehab to clear infections that opportunistically regenerate in the joints. Laser scans boost the energy of the cells to empower them to rebuild muscle memory that leads to restored mobiity.
Miracles aren't involved with this protocol. Just complete the recovery protocol to experience your symptom relief. It is within anyone's grasp. Two daily doses of cellular enhancing foods and supplements immediately followed by two laser scans at twelve hour intervals, gets the tissue recovery under way. Monitoring saliva pH (target range of 6.5-7.0 pH) keeps you on track with a recordable index that provides a ongoing status report on your progress. The protocol also works on most other modern diseases including arthritis, stroke, heart disease, including common ailments like colds, flu and even acne.
Why it works was the research of a scientist employed by the predecessor of the A.D.A. who discovered almost a hundred years ago that restorative dental work may be the source of modern degenerative diseases. The inventor suggested that laser light capable might be capable of interrupting and eradicating these primary, focal infections without drugs or invasive procedures; the only other option was extraction of all the infected teeth.
It's not claimed to be a cure because only the body's cells can cure themselves. This protocol approaches the process by recognizing the amazing energy input of handheld, personal lasers combined with power-food supplementation as it brings the cells out of their coma to recognize their DNA's blueprint. Once cellular identity and intelligence are enhanced with power-foods and laser energy infusions, the body has a built-in, memory map to return to health. Commitment and applied discipline to the program's nutrition and laser protocol schedule offers personal, affordable recovery with minimum difficulty.

Interpreting Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms Properly - By: MIKE SELVON
The disease multiple sclerosis affects the body's central nervous system. When the disease takes hold, multiple sclerosis symptoms can be painful and debilitating. This experience can be terrifying for a patient who previously lived a full and healthy life.
Sudden physical limitations and mood swings can be extremely difficult for the patient and their family. To help you understand what you or your loved one is going through, we'll explain some of the most common symptoms of MS and give you some tips for coping them.
MS symptoms usually appear between the ages of 20 and 40. The onset of MS may be dramatic or so mild that a person doesn't even notice any symptoms until far later in the course of the disease. Primary symptoms include impairment of the necessary transmission of electrical brain signals to muscles and the organs of the body.
The symptoms include weakness, tremors, tingling and numbness, loss of balance, vision impairment, paralysis, and bladder or bowel problems. Secondary symptoms result from primary symptoms. For example, paralysis can lead to bedsores, incontinence, and recurring urinary tract infections.
These symptoms can be treated, but the ideal goal is to avoid them by treating the primary symptoms. Tertiary symptoms are the social, psychological, and vocational complications associated with the primary and secondary symptoms. Depression, for example, is a common problem among people with MS.
Fatigue is the most common symptom of MS. It is typically present in the mid afternoon and may consist of increased muscle weakness, mental fatigue, sleepiness or drowsiness. Many MS patients report a sensitivity to heat that worsens when they go outside or take a shower. Muscle spasms are a common and often debilitating symptom of MS.
Spasticity usually affects the muscles of the legs and arms, and may interfere with a person's ability to move those muscles freely. Many people with MS complain of dizziness and lightheadedness. These symptoms are caused by damage in the complex nerve pathways that coordinate vision and other inputs into the brain that are needed to maintain balance.
Perhaps the most frightening of all multiple sclerosis symptoms is cognitive impairment. Almost half of all MS patients report slowed thinking, difficulty concentrating and loss of short term memory. Some people experience problems with their vision, but these are moderate issues that do not include blindness.
Abnormal sensations can range from numbness to extreme pain. These symptoms can be treated. However, speech and swallowing problems, tremors and problems walking can be difficult to treat because these symptoms come as a result of damaged nerves.
Dealing with your multiple sclerosis symptoms does not have to be difficult or time consuming. You may not be able to do everything that you once enjoyed, but taking medication and making a few key lifestyle choices can ensure that you still live a full life. For more multiple sclerosis information, research the disease online or contact the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Living With Multiple Sclerosis Is Not The End - By: MIKE SELVON
People with multiple sclerosis may feel that their disease has cost them their independence. This is not true. There are simple modifications that you can make to your home and workplace that will allow you to live a fairly normal life.
The first thing that you need to do is consult your physician and groups that provide multiple sclerosis support for ideas and information. In this article, we've got some helpful advice on living with multiple sclerosis that will help you make your life easier.
All MS treatments can have some side effects and all people with multiple sclerosis respond differently to different medications. Some injected MS treatments may cause flu-like side effects, such as fever, chills, muscle aches and tiredness. For many people, the flu-like side effects lessen or go away over time.
If you receive an injected MS treatment, then change the time of day that you take your injection. Many people choose bedtime so they can sleep through many of the side effects. Take over-the-counter pain medications. They can help reduce pain or fever. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have an allergic reaction to a multiple sclerosis drug.
One of the most difficult parts of living with MS is coping with the mental and physical fatigue. It's one of the symptoms of MS, but it can also be caused by some medications. Depending on the type of fatigue, your doctor may recommend aerobic exercise, physical therapy or occupational therapy.
Prioritizing your responsibilities, pacing yourself, and delegating work to others will help to conserve your energy. Depression is common and it is managed the same way as depression that occurs without the medicine: an antidepressant medication and/or counseling.
Living with multiple sclerosis will mean making changes to your living environment. Making specific changes around the home can significantly reduce injuries or mitigate high-risk situations, such as falling or getting a burn.
For the sake of safety, you should have hand rails and other supports installed in the bathtub. You should also use the microwave instead of a traditional stove and kettle. If you do use a stove, then select a model with controls located at the front, use the back burners whenever possible, and use a stove guard which fits around the side or front of the appliance. Buy a kettle and iron with an automatic switch-off.
Living with multiple sclerosis means that you have to take the appropriate home safety measures. Doing things such as making sure that you maintain well-lighted areas in and around the home, keeping floors free of obstacles, fastening loose rugs to the floor and wearing well-fitted shoes with good traction are all simple things you can do that will keep you safe. Taking these little steps will make living with MS easier for both you and your family.

How to Overcome Multiple Sclerosis - By: AlnwickKajetan
Most people view health and illness in a materialistic manner, as if we are frozen sculptures being acted upon by a hostile environment. Here at the beyond MS Association we view wellness or sickness to be extensions of our entire persona, and there is no one cause for MS. The Beyond MS Association believes that it takes three factors combining together in a prescribed manner to bring about health or illness.
What we have failed to recognize in our society of quick fixes and pharmaceutical medicine, is the fact that nutrition is the key source of recovery and rehabilitation, to equip our bodies with the tools they need in order to balance, readjust and remedy the miscommunication and malfunctions within! Pharmaceutical grade prescription drugs only treat symptoms, and usually cause worse side effects in the long run, as well as potential for addiction.
One of the closest cures for multiple sclerosis is diet and supplements, many people have had significant improvement in their symptoms by making adjustments to their diet and taking a few important minerals and other nutrients. Eating a well balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, oily fish and legumes is good start.
There are many famous people on the list from all walks of life, the disease is not particular, it can affect anyone without warning. Many of the famous people have used their public fame to help further the progress of research either through donations or charitable events. As long as this disease is not cured there will be more stars who once diagnosed will do everything in their power to help find a cure.
These may be your most valuable resource for information regarding alternatives to treating your disease with medications. There are many different ideas when it comes to treating MS some of which are considered alternative and others that involve making sweeping changes to your diet.
Living with multiple sclerosis is going to present its share of challenges over the span of your life. For those who make the choice to learn as much as they can about the disease and make the necessary lifestyle changes it is still possible to lead a very fulfilling and long life.
It is tempting to stop moving when issues such as muscle stiffening, fatigue, and staggering set in, but move anyway. Yoga, Qi Gong and Tai Chi are REALLY good. Qi Gong is the best in my opinion because it really helps the eyes, balance, and blood circulation.

Since majority of the patients presently considering India for Liberation Treatment are from US and Canada, the website has set up a US, Canada Toll Free Helpline where the patients can call and get answers to their questions.
It all started with the Dr. Paolo Zamboni’s search to find out the root cause of debilitating condition of his wife who was suffering with Multiple Sclerosis. After studying many patients suffering from the same condition, he found that that almost all of them had a narrowing, twisting or outright blockage of the veins that are supposed to flush blood from the brain. Further Dr. Paolo Zamboni found that whichever patient had this condition, had a high level of deposition of Iron in the veins. Lack of free flow of the blood to the brain possibly explaining the symptoms of MS. Now the idea was to open up such blocks and allow the free flow o f blood through veins to brain. This is the reason why this procedure is called as Liberation Procedure. This is done in the similar way as it is done in Coronary Balloon procedure. The patient may have single blockage or multiple blockages an accordingly the treatment is decided.

Multiple Sclerosis: Could This Be The Cure? - By: Katt Mollar
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease characterized by pain and disability. The most common symptoms of MS are vision problems, muscle weakness, numbness and loss of balance and coordination. In extreme cases, hearing loss, speech impediment, paralysis and cognitive impairment may also manifest.
This debilitating disease affects the organs of central nervous system that include the spinal cord, the brain and the optic nerves. MS usually affects people between 20 and 50 years old but it has been reported in children as young as two. There may be some genetic factors involved but MS in not directly inherited. It is more common in women than in men and in Caucasians of northern European ancestry than in other ethnic groups.
MS is widely believed to be an autoimmune disorder, when the body attacks the myelin, the fatty sheath that serves as cover and insulation of the nerve cells. It is not clear how immune cells, which are found in the blood cross the so-called brain-blood barrier to attack the myelin. As the disease progresses, myelin degradation also progresses and scar tissue called sclerosis or lesions are formed. Damage to the myelin, which is the main insulator of the nerve fibers causes disruption in the conductivity of the nerves. Eventually, the nerves under the myelin sheath also get damaged, causing further disruption in the impulses travelling between the brain and the spinal cord.
Like most diseases, early detection of MS is important in its management. In one study, researchers observed that poor management of the first two attacks in patients with relapsing-remitting MS can lead to poor outcome 5 years later.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is currently the gold standard in detecting MS even when clinical and laboratory findings are not conclusive. MRI is especially effective in detecting small structural changes in the spinal cord and the brain.
Parallel to imaging techniques, the search for biomarkers for multiple sclerosis has also made progress. The most promising source of biomarkers for MS is the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Certain proteins and metabolites can be isolated from CSF and concentrations of these proteins tend to differ between people with MS and without MS.
Over the years, drugs have been developed and approved that slow down the progression and minimize the severity of MS attacks. Unfortunately, many of these MS drugs are associated with side effects, some of them serious. And, treatment greatly depends on the disease course and the stage when detected.
There is no known cure, but could there be one on the horizon? Last year, a new theory and possible treatment for MS was put forward by an Italian doctor that can change the established concept of MS being an autoimmune disease. In 1995, 37-year old Elena, wife of Paolo Zamboni, was diagnosed with MS. The vascular surgeon and professor of medicine at the University of Ferrara in Italy started an intensive research on the disease to help his wife. With further research of his own using state-of-the-art imaging techniques, Zamboni arrived at his theory that MS is not an autoimmune disease but a vascular disease.
According to Zamboni's observations, in 90% of people diagnosed with MS, abnormalities were observed in the veins draining the blood away from the brain. The vessels are either blocked or malformed, making the draining of the blood inefficient. This is the basis of his rather controversial but novel and ground-breaking theory. From this premise, Zamboni went one step further and performed a simple procedure on his wife to unclog the veins and restore normal blood flow from the brain. That was 3 years ago and she hasn't had an attack since then.
When Zamboni published his theory in 2006, it was met with a lot of skepticism. In his ground breaking paper, he cited similarities and parallels in the pathophysiology of MS and chronic venous disease. In his early research, Zamboni documented during a duplex scanning examination on the carotid arteries of a patient "an unexpected reflux from the chest into the internal jugular vein after the patient coughed involuntarily", a phenomenon observed in other MS patients. Zamboni and colleagues assessed 58 patients with relapsing-remitting MS and compared them to 60 healthy controls without MS. The study participants underwent transcranial color-coded duplex sonography (TCCS) to assess the blood flow dynamics in and out of the brain. The results showed that reflux or bidirectional flow occurred more commonly in MS patients compared to controls. The severity of backflow towards the subcortical grey matter of the brain closely corresponded to the severity of the MS symptoms as indicated by disability scores. Zamboni and his colleagues concluded that "Our study of MS patients demonstrated significant haemodynamic alterations detected in veins anatomically related to plaque disposition."
Over the years, Zamboni and his colleagues continued to conduct research on the blood flow dynamics of the brain in MS patients. Zamboni's theory is now popularly known as Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI), although he personally refers to it as the "liberation theory" because it "liberated" his wife.
The treatment of CCSVI in MS patients is quite simple and is similar to angioplasty where a catheter is inserted in blood vessels in the leg and pushed up to the neck and brain. A balloon is then inflated to clear the blockage and restore normal blood flow.
In 2009, Zamboni and colleagues reported the results of a pilot study of MS patients with CCSVI. Six-five patients clinically diagnosed with MS underwent surgery to clear blocked vessels. 35 of the patients had relapsing-remitting MS, 20 had secondary progressive MS, and 10 had primary progressive MS. Among the patients, blockages were identified in the internal jugular veins and the azygous vein. Positive clinical outcomes were most evident in the relapsing-remitting patients with a relapse-free rate of 50%. Physical and mental outcomes also significantly improved in most of the patients even up to 3 years after surgery. More trials are being planned.
The medical establishment remains cautious, even openly skeptical about Zamboni's theory and treatment procedure. They also warn that the media hype is raising patients' hopes before the procedure can be thoroughly tested.
The National MS Society is quite vocal about discouraging patients from having the procedure until further tests have been done. Others dismiss the positive clinical outcomes as "placebo effect." The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (MSS) stated "Many questions remain about how and when this phenomenon might play a role in nervous system damage seen in MS, and at the present time there is insufficient evidence to suggest that this phenomenon is the cause of MS." According to Dr. Paul O'Connor, a neurologist in Toronto' "There is not a shred of real evidence anywhere that messing around with these veins does anything to help MS patients.
There are also experts, however, who are more open-minded and are willing to give Zamboni and his CCSVI the benefit of doubt and a chance to prove themselves. According to Bianca Weinstock-Guttman, an associate professor of neurology at the State University of New York at Buffalo "If this is proven correct, it will be a very, very big discovery because we'll completely change the way we think about MS, and how we'll treat it."
Mark Haacke, world-renowned imaging expert and an adjunct professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, is urging patients to send him MRI scans. Haacke says. "Patients need to speak up and say they want something like this investigated ... to see if there's credence to the theory."
Yves Savoie, President & CEO, of MSS Canada issued the following statement: "These early results are encouraging and show that this warrants more study. This is truly a new avenue to explore in MS research, and we want to be a part of furthering this investigation."
Research institutes are also scrambling to test Zamboni's hypothesis. Researchers at Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center led by Robert Zivadinov conducted ultrasound checks of 280 people with MS, 161 healthy people, and 60 with other neurological conditions. The researchers reported that 62.2% of MS patients exhibited the vein problem described by Zamboni. When borderline cases were excluded, the positive findings went down to 56%. 25% of healthy people have similar anomalies. Zivadinov also observed that the vein anomaly is more common and pronounced in people with advanced MS. Other tests and studies are being planned.
Some doctors, who have been under pressure from their patients think that while the hypothesis is being tested, patients could nevertheless be screened for CCSVI and treated. Others, however, believe this is not feasible, not to mention unethical. The testing will cost a lot of money and the procedure can lead to complications. The ethical issue, as usual, is a double-edged sword: Is it ethical to perform an unproven procedure on a patient? Is it ethical to withhold a patient a treatment that can potentially relieve pain and disability?
Nevertheless, CCSVI is now on the table. Ultimately this could be the cure for some if not the majority of MS patients. It's worth pursuing.

Effects of Multiple Sclerosis - By: TomMack
If you are experiencing numbness and/or tingling in parts of your body it is important to see your doctor to discuss these symptoms. Similarly, losses of balance or blurred vision are early signs of multiple sclerosis. If you are experiencing these symptoms, don't panic, but be sure to call your doctor to rule out any disease. Financial assistance is also available for most patients diagnosed with MS. Because you will be taking medication for an extended period of time, it's important to talk with your doctor about different options, and to find out what medication brands and types your health insurance company will pay for.
If you've been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, explore all your treatment options and discuss your treatment plan with your doctor. You can find Luteolin in leaves, but fortunately for your palate it is also seen in thyme, rinds, celery, dandelion, green pepper, carrots, olive oil, rosemary, oregano, peppermint, and chamomile tea. In such a scenario, the immune system mistakenly destroys the myelin sheath which not only acts as a protective covering for the nerves but also facilitates rapid transmission of signals along the nerves. Thus when with the absence of the myelin sheath, there is inevitable damage to the nerves.
The Social Security Administration recognizes this disease as a "qualifying" disease for Americans who are unable to remain working due to the progression of their condition. Although, even with a positive diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, this does not mean you will automatically qualify for Social Security Disability Benefits. At least in my case, as I'm sure probably in many of you too, when I don't get enough sleep or have sleep problems the night before or even when I don't take my afternoon nap, my cognitive symptoms worsen: I find it hard to think and concentrate in whatever I'm doing.
Multiple sclerosis is usually perceived as a disorder of adulthood but children and adolescents can be affected. Although childhood and adolescent onset is not common, it is thought that two point seven to four point four per cent of people with Multiple sclerosis have onset before the age of sixteen. MS commonly is believed to result from an autoimmune process. Multiple Sclerosis can cause tremors, numbness, concentration issues, slurred speech, coordination issues, blurred vision (even blindness), paralysis, loss of balance and more. There is no known cure for MS; therefore it is considered a chronic health disease.
His conclusion was that the majority of his MS patients had chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI). In other words their venous systems were unable to efficiently remove the blood from the central nervous system. He performed a surgical procedure called a balloon angioplasty to open up the problematic veins. The disease of multiple sclerosis is progressive and causes the slow deterioration of the nerves within the spinal chord and brain; therefore as the nerves become increasingly more damaged over time, symptoms and complications that are more severe will develop. These include extreme fatigue that not only affects the individual physically, but mentally as well.

Early Signs of Multiple Sclerosis - By: TomMack
Multiple sclerosis symptoms include some of the most fatal and dangerous balance symptoms like lack of coordination, inner ear balancing, numbness, speech and shuttering, feedback of the limb, vertigo problems and occurrence of shaking. It is yet under the scientific discussion, whether what are its impacts on the accurate verbal ability of a person; and the disguised effect of the disease on the vocal cord! It impairs the vocal cord ability to speak. When I first spoke to Shauna about her experience, I took the time to look in to the science behind the Colostrum products Shauna was taking. Once I was satisfied that the products were safe, I had an appointment with our neurologist to confirm that I was not going to be doing anything that might compromise my existing treatment.
While there is no cure for MS, there is disease modifying treatments available. In fact, there are five different disease modifying treatments available over planet Earth. They vary from each other in substances used, but they work toward the same basic goal: they try to diminish the harmful effects of MS. The next step is to get all the info you can get on Multiple Sclerosis out there. Be careful in this selection of reading material on the subject. The internet is probably in my opinion the worst place to get first time information on Multiple Sclerosis. There are so many false promises and hopes being published on it, unless you can get it from a recognised organisation out there.
Educate. Empower. Support. All of these things help make the long road of Multiple Sclerosis just a little bit easier to bear. And you won't be dealing with it alone. There is a support team of millions waiting to give you a helping hand. Discover your treatment options and find hope while living with MS today. Who told MS patients they are not supposed to work out anyway? Who says you can't do an extreme program? There are 70 year old people doing P90X, people that were over 300 pounds. Obviously people come in all shapes and sizes and with all different kind of conditions. So what makes it hard for an MS patient to try to exercise?
MS treatments also include therapies like stretching and strengthening as well as in depth procedure such as plasma exchange. A Plasma exchange separates blood cells from plasma. Plasma exchange is popular with individuals who are not responding well to steroid treatments. The second oral medication, Cladribine, developed by pharmaceutical company EMD Serono, was given Priority Review in its application for market approval.
The Priority Review means that the Federal Drug Administration will take less than the usual amount of time for review. It is a designation that is given to drugs that are seen to offer major advances in treatment or that provide a treatment where there isn't an adequate therapy. It has helped some patients, and it's certainly worth talking to your doctor about. And it is encouraging to see any kind of new medication for helping multiple sclerosis patients.

HEALING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS - By: Emiley David
Hope and healing are the two things that help to overcome multiple sclerosis. Understand your body well and act according to it. Listen to your body when it is in pain and cure it by healing gives you a mental satisfaction. Healing can be done by connecting to your own body as the body knows innately how to heal itself. “Let Go”, Surrender and trust is the natural process to heal MS. Learn to “hear” what body is telling you. Create a loving relationship and collaboration with your body and being and befriend it. Working together in collaboration with your body is essential thing for deep healing. Connect to your body and being go through the heart, rather than the mind or intellect. Working through the heart centre opens the inner energy and will give you deep insights into and awareness of your deep being. Relax into the wisdom of the heart, body and soul and be kind, patient and compassionate with yourself during this healing process. It takes time, and you are learning something very new and profound that will be with you for the rest of your life. Take out relaxed time daily so you can”hear” or feel what your body and soul is being telling you. It is very important to embrace the illness and respect and honour what your body is telling you. To overcome this disease one can stick to regular activities which we avoid in our routine life like
Deep breathing exercise before retiring in the evening and after waking up in the morning rejuvenates the body and soul. It reduces the stress and allows the more oxygenated blood flow. Breathing in a fresh air daily early in the morning helps in overcomes an in healing MS and also keeps you active all the time.
Daily 7-8 l intake of water is recommended to average human being. Place a notepad with yourself and check whenever you drink water, you will amazed how much liters you absorb daily. Mostly people with MS have a symptom of incontinence, drinking lots of water rehydrates the body and therefore the less frequent urination takes place.
In today’s hectic life stress is very common thing. Stress plays a major role in MS development. So, one must absolutely get out of stress completely. Stress reducing balls are available in the market nowadays. Meditation helps in cutting the stress.
Walking is another important thing which reduces stress. Walk daily outside in sunlight early morning as it helps in vitamin D production which is required to heal MS.
Smile, happiness and laughter (especially big belly ones!!) sharing with your family and friends increase your life expectancy up to 30%.

Multiple Sclerosis - By: cyril del
Despite the ongoing efforts of medical scientists to reveal the factors responsible for causing multiple sclerosis, the exact reasons why the disorder occurs in otherwise healthy persons remain unknown.
An estimated number of over 2 million people worldwide suffer from multiple sclerosis, while in the United States the disease affects around 350.000 people.
Myelin is vital for the proper activity of the nervous system, as it facilitates the transmission of information between neurons. When the nervous cells' myelin-containing membrane is damaged.
Multiple sclerosis is mainly manifested through states of pronounced fatigue, body weakness, poorly coordinated movement of the body, poor balance and muscle pain, numbness, weakness or spasms.
The relapsing-remitting type of multiple sclerosis is the most common form of the disease and it predominantly affects young and middle-aged persons.
The cause of multiple sclerosis has not been discovered yet, it is not known why when the nervous system is affected by multiple sclerosis sends the white blood cells and antibodies against the myelin steath membrane which protects the nerve endings.
The early symptoms include loss of vision, loss of balance, weakness, and numbness. These symptoms are not universal to all sufferers. In fact, some people suffer little more than intense fatigue while others may be so affected they may become paralyzed.
Multiple sclerosis can affect the entire activity of the body and people who suffer from this disease can develop serious physical and neuropsychological conditions.
Multiple sclerosis can cause various dysfunctions in different regions of the body, causing a wide range of physical, neurological and psychological manifestations.
Multiple sclerosis can affect the body on different levels. The majority of people with multiple sclerosis suffer from dysfunctions of the muscular system, while others also develop neuropsychological dysfunctions.
The undesired effects of multiple sclerosis on the human body are often irreversible, rendering prompt medical intervention crucial for reducing the development of complications.
The medications that have proved very efficient in controlling the progression of multiple sclerosis and alleviating its symptoms are Avonex, Betaseron and Copaxone.
Multiple sclerosis confuses the central nervous system and makes it send the white blood cells against the myelin.
According to recent studies in the field, genetic factors play a major role in the occurrence and progression of multiple sclerosis.
Relapsing-remitting sclerosis is typically the way sclerosis begins in patients who suffer from this disease.
The first of these stages is denial and it happens to all of us, and certainly after the recovery of your first relapse. You are now over your relapse and you.
The medications available today are used to accomplish a series of goals in patients with multiple sclerosis: some medication treatments are aimed at slowing the progression rate of the disease.
In order to confirm the relevancy of the findings and to discard any doubts concerning the efficiency of cannabis in ameliorating the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, the study was later repeated.
Symptoms of multiple Sclerosis vary because the location and extent of each attack varies. There is usually a stepwise progression of the disorder, with episodes that last days.
There is no treatment that can cure multiple sclerosis, and in order to find a good treatment we need to discover the cause first. Until then the treatment can only try to stop or ameliorate the attacks.

MUTIPLE SCLEROSIS: SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS - By: Emiley David
Multiple sclerosis is the inflammatory disease of the Central Nervous System. It affects the ability of nerve cells or neurons in the brain and spinal cord to communicate with each other. There are different types of neuron present in the different parts of CNS. Those in the white matter tissue are most liable to be attacked in multiple sclerosis. This type of neuron is a long thin cell containing the cell nucleus and an elongated strand called an axons. Nerve cells communicate by sending electrical signals to axons which are wrapped in an insulating substance called myelin. In MS, the body own immune system attack the myelin and damages it.
The name multiple sclerosis refers to scars (sclerosis better known as plaques or lesions) particularly in the white matter of the brain is mainly composed of myelin. When myelin is lost; the axons can no longer conduct electrical signals. The main causes of MS are genetic, environmental and infectious.
• MS basically occurs due to genetic, environmental or infectious factors. A person’s chances of developing MS increase if 1 in 100 yours siblings or parents has MS or 1 in 4 if your identical twin has MS. There are specific genes which have been linked with MS. Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) in human increases the probability of suffering MS.
• People living far from the equator has develops the more chances of suffering from MS. Decreased sunlight exposure and decreased intake of vitamin D also raises MS. People living in North America, Japan and China are commonly at risk. Smoking also is one of the independent causes of MS.
• Some researchers believe that infections may trigger the immune system to attack the nerve cells. The virus or bacteria that cause the infection looks like neuron. Basically an immune system develops T cells to fight off the virus or bacteria. So, when T cells remains in our body after the infection is gone, get confused after seeing ‘look like’ nerve cells as an invader. The result is that immune system attacks our nervous system.
There are many issues related to the patient and physician to consider in treating multiple sclerosis. The main goals may include improving the speed of recovery from attacks like treatment with steroid drugs. Second is to reduce the number of attacks or the number of MRI lesions or attempting to slow progression of the disease (treatment with disease modifying drugs or DMDs). An additional goal is relief from complications due to the loss of function of affected organs from treatment with drugs aimed at specific symptoms. Examining the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord may found abnormal chemicals and or antibodies, so that diagnosis can be easily be done. On the other hand, an electro physiological test helps in examining the impulse travelling through the nerves.

Support CCSVI Treatment - By: seemapb
CCSVI is the most talked about topic in the field of Multiple Sclerosis. The debate about CCSVI and its relation with MS is still on. Even though, many clinical studies are in the progress and there is no clear data available on this, MS patients across the globe have started making a move on it. Treatment for CCSVI conditions is being offered at many locations and has reported success. CCSVI India is one such option that medical tourists are opting these days.
Below are some of the results of various researches conducted on CCSVI. This might be helpful in making a decision for supporting CCSVI treatment.
•In 2008, Italian researcher Paulo Zamboni and his team found that MS is strongly associated with CCSVI (Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency), a condition in which there is a compromised blood flow in the veins of Central Nervous Systems. Please refer the original research report published in The Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and psychiatry.
•Clinical finding from Buffalo University have stated that more than 55 per cent of people with MS showed signs of CCSVI. The percentage increased to 62.5 per cent when borderline cases were included in the analysis.
•Many MS patients with CCSVI conditions have been successfully treated using Liberation Procedure. Please refer a patient testimonial from CCSVI treatment India.
•Some of the recent clinical findings contradict the results of Paulo Zamboni. These studies have found that not many Multiple Sclerosis patients have CCSVI conditions. Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Umea University, Sweden have concluded that “we found no evidence confirming the suggested vascular multiple sclerosis hypothesis”. Similarly, Department of Internal Medicine, American University of Beirut Medical Center has concluded, “EVS is an unlikely cause of MS since it is not present in most patients early in the disease and rarely involves more than one extracranial vein. It is likely to be a late secondary phenomenon.”
•An article published in June 2010 issue of Neurology Today says that medical experts feel the need of further study before reaching any conclusion.
Liberation treatment is now being offered for Multiple Sclerosis treatment in India.

Causes of Multiple Sclerosis - By: alena jones
In people suffering from multiple sclerosis, the cells producing the myelin sheath are mistakenly attacked and destroyed by the immune system. This results in the myelin becoming inflamed and swollen and getting detached from the fibers. The detached myelin may eventually get destructed.
But there is a set condition before multiple sclerosis is established as MRI, lumbar puncture and V.E.P however obligatory are not enough to imply multiple sclerosis. The condition is that there are two disconnected central nervous systems that are affected
The genetic theories regarding the occurrence of multiple sclerosis have been recently confirmed by medical investigations. The implication of genetic factors is primarily suggested by the pronounced hereditary character of the disease.
Different areas of the world and nationalities seem to have an increased chance of acquiring multiple sclerosis. Areas of the world that don't seem to receive much sunlight have an increased incidence of Multiple Sclerosis. Counties like Scotland, Scandinavia, and northern Europe show a higher rate of MS. As well, white people have more cases of MS than other racial groups.
One of the first theories pertaining to the onset of MS is genetics. It has been established that if an individual has a relative that suffers from this autoimmune disease that they have a higher chance of developing the condition themselves. This does not mean that the medical condition is a genetic condition; it just means that if a relative has the condition, the probability increases for developing the condition.
Most researchers believe that MS is an autoimmune disease in which the body launches a defensive attack against its own tissues, including myelin. For this reason, it is possible that these attacks of immune system are associated with an environmental component of unknown origin, perhaps a virus. Probably some genetic predisposition also plays the role.
Information on multiple sclerosis causes and factors of risk - The actual causes of multiple sclerosis aren't clear. Medical scientists believe that both genetic and environmental factors contribute to the development of multiple sclerosis. It is believed that multiple sclerosis occurs on the background of genetic predispositions,
Symptoms of multiple Sclerosis vary because the location and extent of each attack varies. There is usually a stepwise progression of the disorder, with episodes that last days, weeks, or months alternating with times of reduced or no symptoms (remission). Recurrence (relapse) is common although non-stop progression without periods of remission may also occur.
Multiple sclerosis may take several different forms, with new symptoms occurring either in discrete attacks or slowly accruing over time. Between attacks, symptoms may resolve completely, but permanent neurologic problems often persist, especially as the disease advances. MS will cause impaired mobility and disability in more severe cases.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
