Amitabh Bachchan Tweets His Estrangement With IIFA - By: R.Maheshwari
Bachchans and IIFA have got estranged and Amitabh Bachchan who has been IIFA Awards Ambassador will not be attending the Awards ceremony to be held in Toronto this year. "Not coming to Toronto IIFA.. IIFA says my services are not required.." tweeted Bachchan.
The main reason why this estrangement took place is Bachchan family's not attending the last year's award ceremony that was held in Sri Lanka. Bachchans abandoned the show last year because they did not want to lose the support of South Indian fans for their movie Raavan which was to be released at that time. Tamilians put up huge protests against the Awards and asked Bollywood not to take part in it. The protests were to demonstrate their contempt for the crimes committed against Tamil people in Sri Lanka.
Although the protests from the Tamilians compelled Bachchans to abandon the show as they didn't want to enrage their South Indian fans before the release of Mani Ratnam film Raavan, Abhishek and Aishwarya diplomatically announced their pre-occupancy with shooting for some advertisement scheduled in Europe exactly on those particular dates!
When Amitabh Bachchan denied attending IIFA Award ceremony even after being its brand ambassador for about a decade, IIFA dissolved the concept of brand ambassador. The most interesting part of the entire episode is Big B's claiming that it's the IIFA Award ceremony organizers who didn't want him at Sri Lanka and who again don't want him in Toronto, even when IIFA wanted his presence last year! "Its not me" it's the organizers of IIFA that do not want me in Toronto.. Sri Lanka was the same.." tweeted Big B.
At the same time IIFA doesn't want to harm their relation with Bachchans thus, they told the media that they would not stop pursuing Bachchans for their participation in the ceremony; eventhough they had invalidated the concept of brand ambassador, Bachchans presence would always have a special meaning for IIFA.
Well, now since IIFA has removed its brand ambassador designation, it won't be paying Amitabh Bachchan for his presence in the show, and there isn't anything to motivate Big B to attend the show, so IIFA shouldn't think of his presence anymore!!

Hunk actor Piolo Pascual on Sunday finally broke his silence on the real score between him and actress-TV host KC Concepcion. Pascual admitted on “The Buzz”, where Concepcion is a host, that he and the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta are in a romantic relationship.
Concepcion became his girlfriend on October 21 last year, he revealed.
“It took me 2 years (before she said yes). Tsaka na ‘yung detalye. Basta that’s one of the best days of my life. For the first time in more than 8 years, I’m getting into a relationship, a commitment. And I’m planning to keep it,” he said.
Asked about his term of endearment to Concepcion, Pascual said, “I call her my princess.”
For months, Pascual and Concepcion have been mum on the status of their relationship, saying that they want to stay away from the “huzzles and buzzles” of showbiz. Pascual, in particular, wanted to keep things private so as not to affect his 13-year-old son, Iñigo.
“The reason why I never admitted naman was because may pinoprotektahan ako. I have a son, ayaw mong magkaroon ng ibang reaction ‘yung bata. For the Nth time, young actor Enchong Dee clarified that his on screen partner Erich Gonzales and co-star Kim Chiu are not involved in a rift. Dee appealed for people to stop speculating about the non-existent tiff.

The celebrity gossip columns had been predicting it for some time, but it seems the whirlwind reality romance that was Katie Price and Alex Reid has finally come to a well-publicised end.
After much press speculation about their 11-month marriage, Price was the one who broke the news to the world via a statement that confirmed the rumours that the pair were to separate. The model and businesswoman discussed some of the stories that had featured in the celebrity news pages over recent weeks and suggested that she may have tied the knot a little too soon after her high profile divorce from Peter Andre.
The statement said: "Alex and I have had a number of difficulties over the past few months. I accept that these were in part caused by my marrying too quickly - we all make mistakes and this was one.” It continued: "However, Alex changed from the man I fell in love with and some of his behaviour became difficult for me to understand and caused issues."
Price concluded by saying that newspaper reports that Reid himself had been refusing to leave the family home were true and that he knew it was “the right thing” for both herself and her children for them to separate. "My children are my absolute priority in this and they are being shielded from what is happening."
Of course, while the celebrity gossip pages will be kept busy with intricate details of the divorce for months to come, this is highly unlikely to be as high a profile split as there have been in the past. British, Hollywood, Indian and other media reported that Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai (Jodhaa Akbar) has been replaced by young Bollywood star Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) as the face of cosmetics firm L'Oréal, and now a company statement is circulating around that it was not true.

Personal Branding on the Internet involves a blend of authority, credibility, and celebrity. These three elements play a key role in successful professional networking. They are also key elements in the success of your Blog Marketing and Article Marketing ultimately leading to your online ecommerce success. Let's take a look a each individually.
Authority, how do you get it? The most time tested way to be in a position of authority is to be an author of a book. Other ways to gain authority are to be on a panel of experts discussing an issue or a guest speaker on a specific topic. Although writing a blog is a good start, turning your blog into an article, posting the article, and having the article syndicated gives you authority. Why do you want to be an "authority"? With authority status, people default to your opinion on your topic of authority. Even more important, they refer others to your opinions on these topics which builds your online personal brand. By the way, if the idea of authoring a book is intimidating, just keep writing blogs and articles. Once you have 20 or so quality blogs and articles, hand them to a writer and they will create a book for you. You are the author since the content is uniquely yours.
Credibility, how do you get it? The most straight forward way to be credible is to flash your education certificates. Didn't graduate with a degree? Or, your area of interest and expertise isn't related to your degree? There are other ways to gain credibility. Experience is the most powerful way to gain credibility. If you have been successful doing something a certain way, you are credible. I often joked before the real estate crash that if you bought a house, did something (or nothing) with it, then sold it for a profit you could write a book about your success and make millions — with the book sales. In your blogs and articles talk about your successes. Be specific. Your successes will build your credibility. If you do have a certificate from a school, be sure and make it prominent in your biography, resumé, and other appropriate places.
Celebrity, how do I get it? This is the fun one. I know I always dreamed of being a rock star … standing on stage with thousands of people screaming while I had a blast playing and singing music. I might have had a chance had I actually learned how to play an instrument. Oh well. But we are not talking about movie starts or rock stars. We are talking about having celebrity status in your industry. If you have been featured on a TV news story or TV special report you have celebrity status and you need to provide easy access to these clips. If you haven't, don't worry, there are other ways to become a celebrity. If you get invited (or get yourself invited) to be a speaker make sure you video record the event. Then publish and promote it on YouTube. A simpler way to gain celebrity status is to video tape yourself delivering your blogs and articles. Post these on YouTube and tell people they are there. The first group of people who will want to hear your blog are those who read your blog. They may be interested in catching your voice inflections or personal characteristics while you discuss the topic. This allows them to better understand your blogs and you become a celebrity.

According to Twitter, they are cutting the chord of JustSpotted off from a series of “tweets” that may possibly be added up to give the whereabouts of the stars.
JustSpotted will initiate in the next week probably Tuesday and it will be launched with an online Map that precisely locates celebrity sightings and locations lively. It uses updates from social networking domains like Twitter, location based check-in facility like Four Square and Facebook.
JustSpotted if rightly said is a sort of reincarnation of the real time search platform Scoopler that has licensed a “fire hose” data feed and tracking of all the public feeds from microblogging website Twitter. It seems the celebrity gossip columns have a brand new target this week after it was revealed that another former child star has fallen foul of the law.
Edward Furlong, who shot to fame in 1991 thanks to his central performance as a teenage John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, was arrested in Los Angeles after allegedly violating a restraining order taken out against him by his estranged wife Rachael Kneeland.
While the actor has never really achieved the level of success he enjoyed in his feature debut, he has scored a series of critical hits including 1998s American History X and the Steve Buscemi-directed 2000 prison drama Animal Factory. However, Furlong had recently made his return to blockbuster fare with a role in The Green Hornet, having walked the red carpet for its premiere only a few days before his arrest, but it remains to be seen if these latest accusations will have any impact on his career.
Of course, it isn’t the first time that a child actor has grown up into something of a hell raiser and wound up in trouble with the law. Regis Philbin announces retirement - By: Chauncey
After 40 years in the business, ‘Live With Regis and Kelly’ host Regis Philbin is retiring from morning television. The 79-year-old host announced the news on Tuesday’s episode of his hit show, stating that he will leave the program sometime in late summer, although his exact end date has not been specified.
“I don’t want to alarm anybody, but this will be my last year on the show,” he said, igniting a chorus of groans from audience members.
Philbin has helmed different incarnations of ‘Live’ since 1983, when it was called ‘The Morning Show.’ His co-hosts have included Cyndy Garvey, Ann Abernathy, Kathie Lee Gifford and Kelly Ripa.
“It’s been a long time,” he said, “and it was the biggest thrill of my life to come back to New York, where I grew up as a kid watching TV in the early days, you know, never even dreaming that I would one day have the ability, or whatever it takes, to get in front of the camera and talk to it.”
The veteran host then lightened the heavy mood with a bit of his trademark self-deprecating wit. “There is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera – especially certain old people!”
Philbin, who holds a Guinness world record for most hours logged on television, has hosted ‘Live’ for 28 years, the past 10 of which have been co-hosted by Ripa.
“I think I can only speak for America and all of us here,” said Ripa, “when I say it has been a pleasure and a privilege and a dream come true. And I wish I could do something to make you change your mind.”
He began to publicly ponder his retirement options a few years ago, telling reporters, “I do love being off. The years are going by, and I have reached a point in my life when, frankly, most guys my age have been retired for a few years.”
No announcement has been made regarding the show and whether there will be a replacement for Philbin.
The three-time Emmy Award winner has been a fixture on television sets since the 1950s, when he came up working for local stations. His first taste of national exposure came in 1967 when he scored the sidekick role on Joey Bishop’s short-lived late-night show.
After spending many years on the morning television circuit, primarily in Los Angeles, Philbin moved back to New York in 1983 to host ‘The Morning Show.’ Two years into the job, he teamed up with Kathie Lee Johnson, who later married football great Frank Gifford, and their show went nationwide in 1988.
Gifford left in 2000 and a year later soap star Ripa (‘All My Children’) filled the slot. Their show reaches an average of 4 million viewers a day, according to Nielsen statistics.
Aside from daytime TV, Philbin also showed he can handle primetime when 10 years ago he hosted the top-rated game show, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.’

It seems that despite being part of the celebrity news culture since the 1950s, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner will continue to grab the headlines way into his twilight years – after announcing his engagement to a woman 60 years his senior.
The magazine mogul and infamous ladies’ man revealed to his army of Twitter followers after Christmas that he had proposed to 24-year-old Playmate Crystal Harris on Christmas Eve and that his intended had burst into tears when he popped the question.
Hefner tweeted: “When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory," adding later, “Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn't mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all." Crystal herself, who appeared as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in December 2009, later tweeted that she had noticed her engagement was trending on Twitter and revealed that her new fiancé had bought her a painting from one of her favourite artists and linked a picture to it for all to see.
Since then, the engagement has continued to be the talk of tinsel town and was even brought up as part of a controversial act by TV funnyman Ricky Gervais as he hosted this year’s Golden Globes. Over the next few weeks, expect nothing but talk of nominations, red carpets and acceptance speeches across all of the celebrity news columns. That’s right, awards season is upon us and things kicked off this week with some big wins at the Golden Globes and the announcement of this year’s BAFTA contenders.
The Golden Globes took place on Sunday and saw David Fincher’s The Social Network go home with a slew of trophy’s including Best Picture (Drama), Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score. Other gongs on the night went to Natalie Portman as Best Actress for Black Swan, with the Best Actor accolade going to Brit star Colin Firth for his performance in The King's Speech.
However, while most of the news has related to ‘who won what’ as well as the usual ‘who wore who’, perhaps the most talked about person in all of the usual celebrity gossip forums was our very own Ricky Gervais, who was hosting the ceremony for a second year. While some were talking about how much weight the comic, writer, director and creator of The Office had lost, most were talking about his rather controversial material. Gervais’ brand of near-the-knuckle humour may not have not been to everyone’s cup of tea, it seems, as he took aim at stars including Johnny Depp, Charlie Sheen, Bruce Willis and Angelina Jolie – to name just a few.
The comedian denies this is the case and has said that all of his jokes were taken in good fun, but one actor who seems to be unamused is Robert Downey Jr. When taking to the stage to make one of the night’s announcements, the Iron Man star responded to Gervais barbed introduction by saying: “Aside from the fact it’s been mean-spirited, with mildly sinister undertones; the vibe of the show is pretty good.” He added: “It’s great to be funny but it’s better if you do it without hurting people.”

Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo said she is already shooting her upcoming movie with Gerald Anderson. According to the singer, she started working for the movie last Tuesday but is yet to tape with his leading man.
“May mga meeting na kami, bonding-bonding konti. He’s very polite and sobrang proper,” she said pertaining to Gerald. She added that though this is their first team-up together, she feels comfortable working with not only Gerald, but also Matteo Guidicelli because of their friendly personalities.
“Feeling ko matagal na kaming magkakakilala kasi magaan yung loob ko sa kanilang dalawa,” said the Kapamilya actress.
In the movie, Gerald and Matteo will compete with each other for Sarah’s love. In real life though, Sarah said she does not see it coming anytime soon.
“Sabi ko nga at least sa pelikula na-experience ko pag-agawan ng boys,” quipped Sarah.
In his prior interviews, Matteo said he wanted to work with Sarah and that she is one of her showbiz crushes. But Matteo is currently involved with actress Maja Salvador although the two had dismissed rumors about them.

Following the reports that Cruz gave his girlfriend a luxury bag as a gift for Christmas, speculations now thrive that the actor has given the actress a watch worth half a million pesos. Cruz said the price of gifts he gives Magdayao does not really matter because it’s always the thought that counts.
“You know hindi na tayo kumportable na dini-disclose ang mga ganyang bagay. Hindi naman dapat nagma-matter [kung ano ang regalo]. No matter how big or small yung amoung ng binibigay mo, it’s really the thought na nagka-count dapat,” he said. He said he does not have a plan yet on how he and his ladylove will celebrate Valentines day.
“Wala pa. Kung papalarin at bibigyan kami ng pagkakataon na magsama on that day, well and good. Kung hindi mangyari, okay lang din. Trabaho lang muna,” said Cruz.He was also asked to comment on the budding romance of his former onscreen partner Bea Alonzo with actor Zanjoe Marudo.
“I couldn’t be happier for them. Lagi ko naman sinasabi kung saan ka masaya, mas doble yung saya namin bilang kaibigan mo para sa iyo,” he said.

He revealed that he is taking on a lead role in an upcoming movie of Wenn Deramas, 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival’s best director. According to Vice Ganda, he is very happy with how his career is going and one of his wishes is to just maintain the success he is experiencing. He is also hoping that the health condition of his grandmother, who suffered stroke last year, will improve.
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda shrugged off rumors that he will leave ABS-CBN’s talent show “Showtime.”
He said he loves the show and that, even if his contract ends, he is still willing to be part of it. He shared that his relationship with other “Showtime” hosts is incomparable, and that it is strong enough to surpass any misunderstanding that may come their way He also considers the extension of the show’s air time as an opportunity to make more people happy.
